General Chairperson Welcome

2018 OSRBA Mini Convention - May 4-6

Ohio Expo Center - Columbus, Ohio

Don Retcher, General Chairperson

General Chairperson Welcome

The Ohio State Rabbit Breeders would like to welcome you to another outstanding Ohio State Convention and Show at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus. We invite you to take part in the many activities during the Convention starting out Friday night, May 4th with the Judges Conference. Any questions about the conference should be directed to Mike Adams, Conference Chair. This year we will be hosting a Double All-Breed Show, with one on Saturday, May 5th and one on Sunday, May 6th. Specialty shows will be spread between Saturday and Sunday. National, Regional, and State Club Specialty Shows will be a featured part of the schedule. We welcome exhibitors from all over the nation and world.

The OSRBA will again be hosted in 2 showrooms. The OSRBA Show Office will remain in the O'Neill Building. The commercial shows, New Zealand, Californians and breeds to be announced will be in the Voinovich Livestock Building, right across the driveway. Please check where your rabbits will be housed before unloading, and watch for pedestrian and rabbit traffic between the buildings.

With the additional show space and a Double Show, our volunteer staff may be spread out. Please be patient with OSRBA Volunteers. Also, you will note that ALL OSRBA sponsored specialties, cavy shows and All-Breed Shows are pre-entry only. No new entries will be taken in the showroom and ear changes must be done by 8:30 am on the day of the show.

The US Meat Rabbit Championship will be held on Sunday, May 6th. The Ohio Market Rabbit Producers Association will be hosting their commercial show on May 5th. The entries for both of these shows will be accepted at the OMRPA Booth with payments of check and cash only.

Our youth activities schedule is listed in the catalog and includes most of the contests that are held at an ARBA Convention. Any questions please contact Hannah Foster. Youth contests and meeting space will be headquartered in the O'Neill Building with a raffle table. We appreciate your support of our youth!

We would like you to join us at 8 AM Sunday morning, May 6th for the opening ceremonies for the Ohio State Rabbit Breeders Show. This ceremony will be held in the O'Neill Building. We will present the youth awards, royalty winners, scholarships, Distinguished Service Awards, and the Hall of Fame at that time. Please be there to receive the awards and congratulate the deserving winners. Thirty minutes after the youth and open Best in Show for rabbits and cavies are selected, we will have the annual Board of Directors meeting, in the O'Neill Building. Make sure your member club is represented.

This show only happens each year because of the dedicated volunteers who give up their time and effort to make this one of the best state convention shows in the United States. The work to make this show a success is the huge effort by our volunteers. The old saying, "Many hands make the work load lighter." As always we need help to set up and tear down the cooping, office help, and many other tasks. I would like anyone who can help to contact our board members. While a lot of work takes place, I believe we all enjoy knowing that without this effort this show cannot take place. Thanks in advance to all the help. Please take time to thank these people for their effort and enjoy this year's show.
