Claire Howman, President
I started in rabbits in 1993 with a wild baby rabbit I caught after the farmer next door plowed his field. This rabbit was raised up and later released and we then purchased two mini lop rabbits for the kids. We purchased in 1996 a mini lop herd from a mini lop breeder Kentucky who got out of rabbits and started showing in open the same year as kids had BIS at Peoria ARBA Convention. For many years we had produced many BOB and BOS winners at ARBA and National Mini Lop Shows as well many BOB, BOS, and BIS winners in local shows in many states. We were continuous winning sweepstakes awards for the Ohio Mini Lop Rabbit Club, Mini Lop Rabbit of America, and the Ohio State Rabbit Breeders Association.
I was Director and President of the Heart of Ohio Rabbit and the Ohio Mini Lop Rabbit Club and helped get both club financially stable. I spent many years serving as District 8 Director of the Mini Lop Rabbit Club of America and heading up the judges committee and running the rabbit auction. I was honored to be named as a member of the year for the national mini lop club. I am current member of the Council Oaks RBA and Medina RBA.
My involvement with OSRBA started helping with the setup and teardown at the Ohio State Rabbit Breeders State Convention and Show when we were hosting a National Mini Lop show in 1999. I became OSRBA Show Superintendent in 2001 and continued with that until 2007 when I became General Chairman. I started as President of the OSRBA in May 2006 to the present. My many duties over the years have included chairman of the judge’s selection committee, equipment chairman, booth chairman, Hall of Fame selection committee, chairman setup show committee, advertising committee and Director at Large. I am a proud member of the OSRBA Hall of Fame and a Distinguished Service Award winner.
